Amurikan Cupcakes

So, recently it was America Day, aka the Fourth of July.  I celebrated the rainy day with Ashbash, Shira, and Casey with some delicious food, great music, and some scattergories. I contributed some strawberry layer cupcakes which were awesome.  I whipped up a yellow cake batter and filled the cups about halfway. 

I then added some sliced strawberries and then topped off each cupcake with more batter.  For the frosting, it was the basic butter-sugar-vanilla combo just kicked up a bit with lemon and amaretto.  Boom.  I didn't want the frosting to be too heavy though so I lightened it up with some whipped cream...

The final touch: a few more strawberries on top!
