tuna i say

Well tis the season, for leftover hardboiled eggs...
They were put to good use.
Starting with tuna salad.

Ingredients:
Tuna, Sour Cream, Mayo, Sweet Pickles, Seasoning, Eggs.

Directions:
Mix it all up as seen below.
It's pretty much just a shake of this and a spoon of that, real scientific.

I like to eat mine with either just saltines, or on a sandwich with tomato and avocado.

Part III: Easter!

Ok, part III: easter brunch and hunt.
Yes, easter is my favorite, and was a great end to a fabulous weekend.
It started with church and ended with madmen, what more do you need to know?
Oh, all the in-between fun of decorations and food, ok.

Decorations:

I made these eggs following this awesome tutorial and put most on the garland, and some in the basket,

I took some inspiration from the one and only Martha and put together some glass jars filled with candy and chocolate bunnies,

and made some easter egg candles.

My personal favorite were the table centerpieces: egg cartons with flowers in soil and some in dyed egg shells, inspiration from fleuretica:

And ashbash made some lovely neon eggs inspired by one of our favs, oh joy!

All together now:

Before everyone arrived, Jonathan hid all the candy filled eggs around the house.

He did a really good job. Maybe even too good of a job...

Food:
Obviously there was no shortage of yummy food for this party.
Jonathan brought deviled eggs, Shira & Ashley came with wine, and Casey continued the perfection of his dairy sculpting art by bringing a butter lamb (a lamb sculpted from butter):

I got a roasted turkey breast from honeybaked (my only shortcut people) and made a caramelized onion and spinach quiche, potato gratin, black eyed peas, biscuits, asparagus, citrus salad, and lemon cake.

(Recipes to come next, this post is already so long)

Everything was perfect,
I just love easter.

PS.
Monday I began to find some eggs missed by the crew:

Part II: Seder

Part II of the holiday weekend was spent on Saturday night at Seder, hosted by the lovelies,
Ashley and Shira.

It was fabulous, of course. Filled with yummy food, lots of wine, and games.
All was great, except for that time that I managed to burn myself with matzo ball soup.
As Marcia pointed out, I must have not taken a big enough drop of wine out for boils.

But overall, lots of laughter and reclining was had by all, all 16 of us!

Part I: Egg Dying

So, as mentioned previously, I stopped working for a bit to celebrate some great holidays (easter and passover, duh).

Part I of this holiday eggtravaganza (and yes there were plenty of puns) was an egg dying party at my casa for the ladies (and evan) to decorate the star of both holidays.

The peeps came over friday afternoon, I made snacks - Radish and Ricotta Bruschetta and Zucchini Salad, Ashley and I made cocktails - Champagne with Saint Germain, Honey Syrup, and Frozen Raspberries, all of which I managed to take no photos of.

And then we decorated:

The best dye is very straight forward, and food safe:
1/2 cup water, 2 T white vinegar, 1 t food coloring, both regular and neon colors are awesome.

Some of the product:

More to come,

an end to the brackets.

Ok. So I'm sure y'all saw the big news,
that cornbread lost to beignets in the finals!!! So ridiculous, I know.

Oh wait. The basketball bracket.
Oh yes, that ended too. With UK winning, and I'm so happy they did.
Why? Oh because it meant I finished in 3rd of our bracket group. boom diggity.

But also, we had a party to watch some of the great basketball since UNC and NC State were playing on the same night. It was a great time with lots of booze and food and fun.

Ashley did her hair all fancy with two braids in the back:

Casey sculpted a wolf in sheep's clothing (a wolf out of sheep's milk cheese) to represent his inner turmoil of being an NC State grad working at UNC...adorable.

And then everyone else brought snacks,
the real reason we come together to watch other people run around.

There were many more that I missed.
A solid time team,

xoxo

in the middle of it

Passover/Easter Eggtravaganza that is. And I couldn't be happier.
Plenty behind in my work for the week, but who cares when I'm prepping the Easter Egg Hunt?

Rant/Rave: i'm so behind

I know I'm so behind in posting but it's because of school.  It's the final month of classes, the final month of classes I'll ever take for the rest of my life, I promise. But until May 1st gets here I'm stuck with Ostrom and Stata, a poor combination if you ask me.

There is some cooking happening, like these cookies. And even a little crafting thanks to Easter weekend. Stay tuned, I'll be back soon.
